Quilt Reprise
Remember Mym's baby quilt?
I've had so many requests for this pattern that I finally got off my arse and obliged.
Pattern for double shell stitch
and, pattern for link stitch edging.
The reinforced double crochet border really doesn't need a pattern. You just crochet into the row below, every second stitch, as you can see in the photo. It results in a very strong, firm fabric.
So there.
Done.
Sorry to all those whom I made such airy promises over the last 6 months. But I always get there in the end.
Well go on, then. What are you waiting for?

You are my hero! Is this the same stitch you used for the (oh so stunning!) baby jacket?

A lot (light years lot) beyond my rudimentay crochet skills, but hey a girl can dream and covet, can't she?

Well if there's one thing we know about you Shula, it's that you take your promises seriously!
I can't believe you crocheted that..talk about a labour of love. how long did it take?

I have that oh so stunning baby coat as the background on my screen right now. I have studied and studied these instructions and pictures and finally read a comment somewhere that straightened out what I was seeing vs. what I was reading. You are writing in european terms. What you call a triple crochet, I learned as an american double crochet. Whew, thanks for the pattern, I cannot wait to try the linked border. This quilt and the jacket are what pointed me to your blog, I am so excited to call you my cyber friend too.

Everywhere I go at the moment there's great crocheted baby blankets popping up.
Thanks.
Now I'll need to learn how to crochet.

Shula, so cool.
If I had patience (and some crochet skills) I would attempt to make something as luscious as this.
Alas, I can't even knit a scarf without major drama queen behaviour. Will have to be content to live vicariously through your work.

Flippin' heck - I only have five crochet blankets on the go and now I might have to give this a go - mind you it may be WAAAAAAAAAAAY beyond my rudimentary skills - thanks for beautiful pattern and inspiration

Wow, reprise! It's a good chance to ogle your blanket again :) There was a minor furore over at a forum with people trying to figure out the pattern. Now there will be peace :D

Oh, this is so wonderful. Love that it was made with leftover yarns. And the backside lining. Thanks for the close-ups, too!

That is so pretty you should frame it.

This is one of the prettiest crocheted blankets I have seen in a while.

WOW is all I can say. Just came over from craftzine and I have to say that this would win my vote if there was a crochet blanket competition. It's so much more subtle than the ripple and the granny squares. Love the border too. Thanks for sharing the pattern........

I LOVE this afghan! I love how you combined different stitch patterns into one piece... as a long time crocheter, it's nice to see a bright new combination. The only thing I don't like is the fringe, but that's a personal thing. The fringe does add visually a lot to the piece, I just hate making it.
And, the heck with a baby, I want to make one for me!

Amazing! I would be very tempted to attempt this after your gorgeous work. One possibly silly question: What kind of yarn and hook size did you use? Thank you so much for your inspiration!

This is such a gorgous pattern but I have a question--I'm not really understanding your crochet instructions. Has anyone done one that can help me out? It's a beautiful stitch pattern and I don't think it's beyond my abilities--just not sure I know what you're talking about.
