It is also connected with the 'golden mean' and the two golden triangles named after the twins castor and pollux [perhaps that both the pope and devil form a triangle with two 'twin' acolytes is an allusion to this?]. It also represents the mean of the numbers 1-9, the central point of a square of 9. The mean or golden mean is the exemplar or measure of virtue. As central point of the square of the nine digits it is the bridge between the others, and in trump V we see the pontiff [the bridge].
